National Institutes of Health (NIH) Programs

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Loan Repayment and Scholarship has announced two programs which may be of interest to NRHA members.

The NIH Undergraduate Scholarship Program (UGSP) offers competitive scholarships to exceptional students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to pursuing biomedical, behavioral, and social science research careers at the NIH. The UGSP offers up to $20,000 per year in financial aid to support undergraduate students' educational exenses

The NIH Extramural Loan Repayment Programs (LRP) offer educational loan repayment assistance to qualified health professionals conducting research at qualifying institutions around the country. The Loan Repayment Programs (LRP) can offer up to $35,000 per year in repayment of educational loans, plus a tax liability payment to offset Federal and State taxes on loan repayment benefits. The Intramural LRP is for researchers who are interested in conducting research as employeees of the NIH, and the Extramural LRP is for health professionals interested in conducting research at qualifying institutions around the country.
